More than a 1000 farmers took to the streets in the Farming to London March – delivering a letter to 10 Downing Street urging the Government to do more to safeguard an industry that is struggling to survive.

We caught the train up from East Sussex to photograph the protest (see our gallery below) and live tweet from the front line. Here are a few highlights..

Spearheaded by Dairy Farmer David Handley of Farmers for Action the peaceful protest brought together British Farmers of all sizes and sectors (Dairy, Beef, Lamb, Arable, Horticulture) with the aim of highlighting the need for more sustainable prices and support for British produce.

The protest culminated in a small delegation delivering a letter to David Cameron at Number 10. After some confusion they were finally allowed to deliver the letter..

Returning from Number 10 David gave a short speech to wrap up the protest, after which everyone headed back to their coaches.
